Peer Response Post #3 – Brooke

For this post, I will be responding to Brooke’s blog post #4:

Module 4- Open Pedagogy & Resources

Hi Brooke,
Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and detailed post on Open Pedagogy and OERs!
Your explanation highlights how open educational practices can empower both students and educators by fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and creativity in learning environments.
I particularly resonate with your point about the financial relief OERs provide. As students, we often face significant financial pressures, and free, easily accessible materials allow us to focus more on learning and less on the costs of education. It’s encouraging to see you emphasize how OERs not only reduce stress but also promote active participation and deeper engagement with coursework.
I also agree with your point about the importance of Creative Commons licensing in fostering an open and ethical sharing of materials. As students and educators, understanding these licenses ensures that we can responsibly use, adapt, and contribute to OERs. I think it’s crucial that universities, like UVic, continue to promote these resources and expand their offerings, which could lead to a more open and collaborative learning environment.
